From Cairns: Moore Reef Pontoon, Fitzroy Island & Helicopter Tour

Cruise by catamaran
to the Moore Reef pontoon

Depart from the Reef Fleet Terminal in Cairns and cruise for about 1.5 hours on an air-conditioned catamaran to Moore Reef on the Outer Reef. Sunlover Cruises' pontoon at Moore Reef is your base for about 2 hours of activities.

Fly over the reef by helicopter

At Moore Reef, take a 10-minute helicopter flight over the reef. Look down on the coral landscapes of the Great Barrier Reef from the sky.

Snorkel and view the underwater world from the pontoon

On the pontoon, collect snorkel equipment including a lycra suit and life jacket and snorkel in clear water. Learn about the reef from a marine naturalist, and see the underwater world without getting wet on the glass-bottom boat, semi-submarine tour and underwater observatory.

You can also use the waterslide and the enclosed ocean swimming area for children. Additional activities such as guided snorkel tours or Seawalker are available at an extra cost.

Enjoy lunch and free time on Fitzroy Island

Leave the pontoon and cruise for about 1 hour to Fitzroy Island. Enjoy a buffet lunch at Zephyrs Restaurant at Fitzroy Island Resort, overlooking Welcome Bay.

After lunch, spend about 2 hours walking the national park trails on your own, snorkeling right off the beach or relaxing on the sand. Optional island activities such as kayak tours, guided nature walks or a visit to the turtle rehabilitation centre can be booked separately. Then cruise for about 1 hour back to Cairns.
