Depart from Sapporo and visit
five autumn foliage spots in Hokkaido
For the meeting point option, meet at 7:50 AM at the bus parking lot at the North Exit of Sapporo Station and depart at 8:00 AM. For the hotel pickup option, pickup from hotels in the designated area of central Sapporo starts at 7:30 AM. This small-group tour is led by a driver-guide, with plenty of free time for sightseeing and photos at each stop.
Admire the autumn leaves at Hoheikyo Dam and the Futami Suspension Bridge
Spend about 60 minutes at Hoheikyo Dam near Jozankei Onsen. Hills covered in red, yellow and orange leaves surround the blue reservoir, making it one of Hokkaido's best autumn viewpoints. Visitors take an electric shuttle bus from the parking lot in front of the tunnel, and the shuttle fare is paid separately on site.
Next, spend about 40 minutes at Jozankei Futami Park taking photos of the bright red Futami Suspension Bridge spanning the stream and the surrounding foliage.
Explore sapphire-blue Lake Toya and Showa-Shinzan
Spend about 90 minutes at Lake Toya, Hokkaido's famous volcanic caldera lake. In autumn, the blue lake blends with golden and crimson hills. At Showa-Shinzan, an active volcano next to Lake Toya, spend about 60 minutes taking in the panorama of reddish-brown volcanic terrain, autumn leaves and Lake Toya.
End the trip at Yotei-san Meisui Park
Finally, spend about 30 minutes at Yotei-san Meisui Park in Kyogoku, at the northeastern foot of Mount Yotei, enjoying the clear spring water and views of Mount Yotei, known as "Ezo Fuji." Then return to Sapporo and finish the tour at the North Square of Sapporo Station around 6:00 to 7:00 PM.
