Meet your guide at Uehara Port (上原港) on Iriomote Island and travel about 15 minutes by car. If you are staying in the Uehara area, free pickup and drop-off are available. A guide and safety equipment are provided, so it is fine if this is your first time on a canoe or SUP.
Paddle through the mangrove waterways by canoe or SUP

On Iriomote Island, nearly 90% of which is covered by primeval subtropical forest and mangroves, paddle along the mangrove waterways for about 1.5 hours. With only the sound of paddles and birdsong over the calm water, glide between green forest and arching roots. Canoes and SUPs are a quiet, eco-friendly way to get close to wildlife habitats without disturbing them.
Walk through the mangrove forest at low tide

The tour runs according to the tides. At low tide, you go ashore for a light trek through the mangrove forest and look for mangrove roots, small crabs and mudskippers on the exposed tidal flats. Your guide explains how the mangroves, the "forest of the sea," protect the island's biodiversity.
