From Taipei: Taroko Gorge Private Tour

and head to Taroko National Park

Depart from your accommodation in Taipei in a private air-conditioned vehicle. The drive to the gorge takes about 2 hours, with breaks roughly every 60 minutes at rest stops with coffee shops, convenience stores, and restrooms.

Your driver-guide introduces the marble gorge, river valleys, and coastal views in English or Chinese, and also explains the changes since the 2024 Hualien earthquake.

See the Taroko Archway and Eternal Spring Shrine

Pass through the iconic Taroko Archway and stop at the visitor center to learn about the tectonic history and natural evolution of the area. Then visit Eternal Spring Shrine, which honors the workers who died building the Central Cross-Island Highway.

Enjoy gorge views at Tianxiang and Cimu Bridge

Feel the peaceful mountain atmosphere around Tianxiang, where the river flows in terraces. You may sometimes spot Formosan macaques. Take photos at Cimu Bridge, with its marble lions, lotus carvings, frog-shaped rock, and a pavilion dedicated to a mother.

Take a break in Xincheng and at Qixingtan Beach

Spend about an hour in Xincheng, known for Hualien-style snacks and nostalgic photo spots, enjoying lunch or a snack. Before returning to Taipei, stroll along Qixingtan Beach, a crescent-shaped pebble beach with views of the Pacific framed by mountains.
