The Forbidden City (Gugong) was the imperial palace of the Ming and Qing dynasties for about 500 years until the early 20th century. Built between 1406 and 1420, it was home to 24 emperors and their families, and after opening to the public in 1925 it now operates as the Palace Museum, based on the former imperial collections.

For the Forbidden City, choose a morning (08:30-12:00) or afternoon (11:00-15:30) ticket and enter at the designated time.

Tiananmen Square requires a separate ticket

The Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square are separate sites, so each requires its own ticket. Tiananmen Square can be entered at any time, but entering before 08:00 is recommended as it is less crowded. There are also ticket options to watch the flag-raising or flag-lowering ceremony at Tiananmen Square.

Add the Summer Palace, Temple of Heaven or Great Wall

Depending on the option, you can visit the Summer Palace, the Temple of Heaven or the Mutianyu Great Wall with a guide in addition to the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square. A half-day private tour of the Forbidden City and Tiananmen is also available, and hotel pickup and drop-off are provided only when included in your option.
