Make and taste your own ramen with the same ingredients used in the restaurant at the ramen academy run by Musoshin, a ramen restaurant in Kyoto's Gion area. After the staff explain the seasonings and ingredients, you'll go through each step yourself, from flame-searing chashu pork to boiling the noodles and shaking off the water with a strainer. Afterward, paint your own design on a ramen bowl, ramen spoon or ramen apron depending on your option and take it home as a souvenir. Gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan ramen are also available, so families traveling with children can join with ease.

The class is run by Musoshin Ramen in Kyoto's Gion area. Founded in Kyoto in 2012, Musoshin Ramen now runs six restaurants in Kyoto and Toronto, and its Toronto branch has been nominated in the Michelin Guide four years in a row. All branches use the same recipe.
Musoshin makes all of its ramen ingredients in-house. Noodles are made fresh every morning and rested overnight, the broth is simmered for 12 hours, and the ramen sauce (tare) and chashu are also homemade. The class uses the same ingredients as the restaurant, and the staff explain the seasonings and ingredients in detail.

Flame-sear the chashu, slice the marinated egg, boil the noodles and practice the technique of draining them with a strainer. You'll also learn how to arrange the toppings that make a great bowl of ramen, then enjoy the ramen you made. The staff will take photos of you during the experience.

Depending on your option, paint your own design on a ramen spoon, ramen bowl or ramen apron. The ramen apron can be taken home the same day. Ceramics are fired overnight in a special kiln and picked up the next day, or can be shipped to your next hotel for an additional fee.
Cooking and eating ramen takes about 45 minutes and painting takes about 45 minutes, for a total class time of about 90 minutes.
※ The item you paint (ramen spoon, ramen bowl or ramen apron) depends on your option.
