This trip of about 12 hours departs from your hotel at 5:00 a.m. and returns to Ho Chi Minh City around 6:00 p.m. Travel to Can Tho by air-conditioned vehicle, explore Cai Rang Floating Market by wooden boat, and experience Mekong village life on Son Islet in the Hau River. An English-speaking guide, boat trip, all entrance fees, breakfast and lunch, snacks and bottled water are included.

Have breakfast on a boat at the floating market

Around 7:30 a.m., arrive at Cai Rang Floating Market on a private wooden boat. See the "cay beo" poles where vendors hang the fruit and vegetables they sell, and have hu tieu noodles or banh mi for breakfast on the rocking boat. Climb onto the boat roof for Vietnamese coffee, and board a pineapple boat to chat with the vendor about life on the water, with your guide interpreting.

After the market, stop at a small floating noodle workshop where a local family shows how they make hu tieu, a popular Mekong rice noodle.

Experience Mekong village life on Son Islet

Around 10:00 a.m., a 30-minute boat ride takes you back to the pier, followed by a short drive to Son Islet. Visit a floating fish farm where locals raise fish in cages under their houses and enjoy a koi fish foot massage. Pick and taste fruit such as rambutan, longan or guava in an orchard, cross a narrow wooden monkey bridge, and learn how to make popped rice.

Enjoy a lunch prepared by local families

At noon, enjoy a lunch made up of dishes each prepared by a different local family. If the tide allows, you will also take a rowing boat ride. In the afternoon, drive back to Ho Chi Minh City, arriving around 6:00 p.m.
