This day tour takes you by bus from Dotonbori in Osaka or Kyoto Station to Okuibuki Ski Resort in Shiga, the largest ski resort in the Kansai region. Enjoy powder snow on 12 trails for all levels, then ride a lift up to Tengu Rock, where on clear days you can see Lake Biwa and the Northern Alps. There is no need to carry ski gear on crowded trains; just come to the meeting point. Non-skiers can enjoy the kids’ park with sledding and snow play areas.

Program

Take the bus from Osaka or Kyoto
to Okuibuki Ski Resort

Depart at 8:00 AM from in front of Kani Doraku Dotonbori East in Osaka, or at 9:20 AM from the Hachijo-guchi bus parking area at Kyoto Station. Travel in an air-conditioned bus and arrive at Okuibuki Ski Resort in the Ibuki area of Shiga after about 2 hours.

Enjoy powder snow on 12 trails

Spend about 2 hours 15 minutes at the resort from 11:45 AM to 2:00 PM. Reaching up to 1,250 meters, the resort has 12 trails for everyone from beginners to experts. Beginners can practice on wide, gentle slopes, while advanced skiers can take on the “New Challenge” course with a maximum gradient of 46 degrees. Lift tickets are included.

Non-skiers can use the kids’ park with sledding and snow play areas. Ski lessons for beginners can be booked in advance.

Have lunch at a mountain restaurant

There are three restaurants at the resort. The 600-seat lounge serves sesame ramen with mountain views, the 450-seat food court offers stone-oven pizza and pork cutlet rice bowls, and the rest area near the entrance serves udon and curry rice. Meals are not included.

Ride the lift up to Tengu Rock

After lunch, spend about 1.5 hours from 2:30 PM to 4:00 PM riding a scenic lift up to Tengu Rock. On clear days, you can see Lake Biwa below and the Northern Alps in the distance. Depart the resort around 5:00 PM, arriving at Kyoto Station Hachijo-guchi around 6:00 PM and Dotonbori in Osaka around 7:00 PM.
