Highlights
Depart by bus from Namba in Osaka or near Kyoto Station and visit four of Kansai's top sights in one day: Nara Park, Arashiyama, Kinkakuji and Fushimi Inari Shrine. Meet the free-roaming deer in Nara Park, walk through the Arashiyama bamboo grove, and visit Kinkakuji with admission included. Program
Depart from Osaka or Kyoto
and meet the deer of Nara Park
Depending on your option, board the bus in Namba, Osaka (meet 7:50 AM, depart 8:00 AM) or near Kyoto Station (meet 9:00 AM, depart 9:10 AM). At the first stop, Nara Park, spend about 80 minutes strolling the park and seeing the free-roaming deer. If you wish, you can also visit Todaiji, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with a Great Buddha about 15 m tall; admission is paid separately.
Walk the Arashiyama bamboo grove
and enjoy your chosen lunch
In Arashiyama, explore the bamboo grove, Togetsukyo Bridge, the Kimono Forest and more at your own pace. Options without lunch have about 120 minutes in Arashiyama, while lunch options have about 50 minutes for lunch followed by about 60 minutes of free time. Tenryuji (admission extra) and the footbath at Arashiyama Station are available if you wish.
With a lunch option, enjoy the menu you booked at a restaurant in Arashiyama: Kobe beef shabu-shabu, sukiyaki, beef bowl or vegetarian curry.
Visit the golden Kinkakuji
with admission included
Spend about 40 minutes at Kinkakuji (Golden Pavilion), a UNESCO World Heritage Site, using the admission ticket included in the tour price. Take in the gold-leaf pavilion reflected in the pond and the surrounding garden.
Walk the Senbon Torii
at Fushimi Inari Shrine
Spend about 80 minutes at Fushimi Inari Shrine, walking the path of thousands of vermilion torii gates leading up Mt. Inari. At the end of the day, return by bus and get off in either Kyoto or Osaka.
