From Taipei: Sun Moon Lake, Kenting & East Coast 5-Day Taiwan Round-Island Tour

Start your round-island trip
at Sun Moon Lake and Wenwu Temple

After pickup from your hotel in downtown Taipei, travel to Sun Moon Lake in the mountains of central Taiwan. Stop at Wenwu Temple, which honors both Confucius and Guan Yu, then explore Ita Thao Village, Ci'en Pagoda and Xuanzang Temple with your guide. Spend the first night at the Fleur de Chine Hotel at Sun Moon Lake, Le Méridien Taichung, or a similar hotel.

Discover history and Buddhist culture in Tainan and Kaohsiung

On day 2, head to Tainan, Taiwan's oldest city. Explore Fort Zeelandia, a reminder of the Dutch colonial era, then take a leisurely stroll along Anping Old Street.

After lunch, continue to Kaohsiung and visit Fo Guang Shan Monastery, founded by Venerable Master Hsing Yun. You can talk with a monk and learn about Buddhist teachings and their development. Stay overnight at the Grand Hi-Lai Hotel in Kaohsiung or a similar hotel.

Drive through Kenting National Park and along the scenic east coast

On day 3, head south to Kenting National Park and stop at Eluanbi Lighthouse, Maobitou, Chuanfan Rock and Longpan Park. In the evening, relax at a hot spring resort in Zhiben, Taitung (Hotel Royal Chihpen or similar).

On day 4, travel along Taiwan's unspoiled east coast and visit Xiaoyeliu, Sanxiantai and Shitiping, each with its own unique geology. Take a one-way train from Hualien to Yilan and stay at Wellspring by Silks Jiaoxi or a similar hotel.

Visit the Kavalan Whisky Distillery and the National Center
for Traditional Arts, then return to Taipei

After breakfast on the last day, visit the Kavalan Whisky Distillery and the National Center for Traditional Arts in Yilan with your guide. Then return to Taipei by bus, arriving at your hotel in the late afternoon.
