The standard ticket covers main gate entry only, while the complete ticket also includes the paid attractions inside the park such as the Tower of Buddhist Incense, the Garden of Virtue and Harmony and the Summer Palace Museum.

Ticket options include an English online audio guide and an English PDF guidebook, so you can tour the palace at your own pace. The audio guide is provided as a web link, so please bring your own phone and earphones.

Ride a boat along the royal waterway
to the Summer Palace

The combo ticket includes a one-way boat ticket from Ziyuwan Pier outside the Summer Palace plus the complete ticket. Cruise for 30 to 40 minutes along the waterway once favored by Empress Dowager Cixi to the palace entrance, then start your visit. The boat does not depart from inside the park, so head to the pier first.

Group tours (options 4 to 9) include tickets, an English-speaking guide and transportation between sights. Choose a route that pairs the Summer Palace with the Temple of Heaven, the Forbidden City or the Mutianyu Great Wall, or join a group tour of the Summer Palace only.

The Peking Duck tour (option 6) includes a Peking duck lunch, with a vegetarian alternative available. Tours that include the Forbidden City (options 7 and 8) do not include Tiananmen Square entry by default, but it can be arranged free of charge on request.

with a private tour

Private tours (options 10 to 16) include tickets, a private English-speaking guide and private transportation between sights. Pair the Summer Palace with the Temple of Heaven, the Mutianyu Great Wall, the Panda House, the Beijing Botanical Garden, the Old Summer Palace (Yuanmingyuan) or a kung fu tea ceremony.

On the Panda House tour you travel from the zoo to the Summer Palace by royal boat from April to October and by private vehicle from November to March. The Botanical Garden tour uses a scenic sightseeing train, and the kung fu tea tour features a 2-hour session with an English-speaking tea master covering tea preparation and traditional Chinese tea snacks.
