After morning pickup from your hotel inside Beijing's 2nd Ring Road, drive about 1.5 hours in an air-conditioned vehicle to the Mutianyu Great Wall. With a maximum of about 9 travelers, you can enjoy the day without rushing.
Walk the Mutianyu Great Wall for 2 hours
Mutianyu is a section of the Great Wall known for its beautiful scenery and relatively small crowds. With a VIP pass you skip the regular shuttle bus for a smoother start, then walk the wall with your guide for 2 hours, enjoying the views and taking photos.
If the climb feels too steep, you can use the ski lift (cable car), and on the way down you can slide down the hill on the toboggan. Ski lift and toboggan tickets must be purchased separately.
Have lunch at a farmhouse restaurant near the wall
Enjoy about 45 minutes of lunch with fresh homemade chicken and seasonal vegetables at a local farmhouse restaurant near the Great Wall. On the way back to Beijing, you pass the Beijing National Stadium, the Olympic stadium.
Explore the imperial Summer Palace with your guide
In the afternoon, spend 80 minutes with your guide at the Summer Palace, regarded as the best-preserved imperial garden in Beijing, and hear about its history and legends. In summer you can also take a boat on the lake to see the palace grounds from a different angle (boat ticket not included).
At the end of the tour, your guide or driver will take you back to your hotel or help you book a taxi.
