Hotel pickup in La Paz, round-trip bus, 2 nights of accommodation and meals during the itinerary are included, and the tour runs in a small group of up to 10 people.
Program
Take an overnight bus from La Paz
to the Uyuni Salt Flats
On the first day, you'll be picked up from your hotel in La Paz and board an overnight bus to Uyuni. The bus has reclining seats and a restroom. After about 9 hours on the road, you'll arrive in Uyuni, head to the office for breakfast and start the tour.
The first stop is the Train Cemetery, where old trains remain. Next, see how edible salt is processed by hand at the Uyuni Salt Flats near Colchani, pass the salt mounds and visit Isla Incahuasi in the middle of the flats. After exploring the island with its volcanic rock and giant cacti, travel to the village of San Juan on the far side of the salt flats and spend the night in a shared room.
Pass high lagoons where flamingos gather
On day three, after breakfast, head southwest with your guide to visit the Cañapa, Hedionda, Chiarkota, Honda and Ramaditas lagoons. At these lagoons surrounded by snow-capped volcanoes, you can see flamingos, Andean geese, gulls and other birds.
At night, stay in basic accommodation at Laguna Colorada with warm blankets. After dinner, gaze at the stars and the Milky Way under the clear high-altitude sky.
See geysers, hot springs and Laguna Verde
On day four, wake up early to catch the first rays of sunlight at the Sol de Mañana geysers, where volcanic gases rise into the air. Pass the highest point of the road at about 5,000 m, visit Laguna Colorada and the Stone Tree (Árbol de Piedra), then follow the high-plateau road to the Polques hot springs for a soak. Next, cross the Dalí Desert to reach Laguna Verde at the foot of Licancabur Volcano.
Return to La Paz via Uyuni
Return to Uyuni while observing Andean flora and fauna, arriving at 5:00 PM. After a short break, board the bus to La Paz. You'll arrive in La Paz around 6:00 AM on day five, and the driver will take you to your hotel.
