Hoa Lu, Trang An and Mua Cave in one day

After pickup from your Old Quarter hotel between 7:00 and 7:45 AM, travel about 2.5 hours to Ninh Binh by shuttle bus or limousine, with a 15–20 minute rest stop around 9:15 AM. Visit Hoa Lu, enjoy lunch, ride a boat in Trang An and climb Mua Cave before returning to Hanoi around 7:00–7:35 PM. An English-speaking guide, all entrance fees and lunch are included.

Explore the ancient capital of Hoa Lu and ride a bike

Around 10:00 AM, arrive in Hoa Lu, Vietnam's 10th-century ancient capital, visit the temples of the kings and learn about Vietnamese history from your local guide.

Before lunch, join a short optional bike ride with your guide along country lanes between limestone peaks, or walk around the village or relax at the restaurant instead. Around noon, have a Vietnamese lunch at a local restaurant, where goat dishes are a local specialty.

Glide through Trang An's caves by sampan

Around 1:30 PM, arrive at UNESCO-listed Trang An for a boat trip of about 1 hour 40 minutes to 2 hours. A local rower takes up to 4 people per traditional sampan through tranquil waterways and cave tunnels surrounded by limestone mountains and temples.

Look over Tam Coc from the top of Mua Cave

Board the bus to Mua Cave and climb about 500 stone steps to the top of Lying Dragon Mountain. Take in panoramic views of Tam Coc's rice fields, winding river and limestone karsts and take photos before heading back to Hanoi.
