After pickup in Hanoi's Old Quarter between 7:00 and 7:45 AM, drive about 2.5 hours to Ninh Binh. On the way, the bus makes a short stop for restrooms, snacks and drinks.

Head to Hoa Lu, Vietnam's first capital dating back to the 10th century. Explore one of its ancient royal temples surrounded by limestone mountains and peaceful countryside while your guide shares the history of Vietnam's early dynasties.

Then cycle for about 30 minutes past quiet villages, rice paddies and country roads to enjoy the Ninh Binh countryside.

After a buffet lunch, ride a sampan boat
through the rivers and caves of Trang An

After lunch, spend about 2 hours exploring the UNESCO-listed Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex on a traditional sampan boat. Known as "Ha Long Bay on land", it takes you along rivers, through caves and past towering limestone peaks.

Climb to the Mua Cave viewpoint
and look out over Tam Coc

Climb about 500 stone steps to the top of Mua Cave for a panoramic view of the rivers, rice fields, villages and limestone mountains of Tam Coc.

At the end of the day, return to Hanoi by vehicle and get dropped off at your original pickup point or a designated meeting point.
