Highlights
This day tour departs from Sapporo Station and visits the most photogenic spots in Biei and Furano in a single day. See the famous cobalt-blue Blue Pond and Shirahige Falls, which turns the river blue, and drive past the open farmland of the Roller Coaster Road. Depart from Sapporo Station and visit
the highlights of Biei and Furano in a day
Meet your driver-guide at the group bus stop at the North Exit of Sapporo Station and depart at exactly 8:00 AM. Travel about 2.5 hours by bus to Biei while your driver-guide provides essential coordination and basic information.
Capture the blue waters of the Blue Pond and Shirahige Falls
Around 10:30 AM, arrive at the Blue Pond, fed by mineral-rich volcanic groundwater, and stay for about 30 minutes. It glows from turquoise to cobalt depending on the weather, season and light, and became world-famous after being used as a default Apple Mac wallpaper.
Around 11:20 AM, spend about 20 minutes at Shirahige Falls in the Shirogane Onsen area. Groundwater flows out of the cliff face and drops about 30 m into the Biei River, turning the water a vivid blue. Around noon, drive along the 2.5 km Roller Coaster Road, famous for its dramatic ups and downs across open farmland, viewed from the vehicle (no stop).
Enjoy a Hokkaido buffet with the lunch buffet option
Take about 60 minutes for lunch from around 12:20 PM. With the lunch buffet option, enjoy a buffet made with Hokkaido ingredients, including ramen, curry, hot dishes, a salad bar and soup, plus unlimited Hokkaido melon. With the option without lunch, meals are at your own expense.
Stroll through the flower fields of Shikisai-no-Oka and Farm Tomita
Around 2:00 PM, spend about 60 minutes exploring the 150,000㎡ hillside flower fields of Shikisai-no-Oka, planted in rainbow stripes. From late May to late October, around 30 kinds of flowers, including tulips, lavender and sunflowers, bloom, and admission is included. The alpaca ranch inside can be visited for 500 JPY, paid on site.
Around 3:20 PM, spend about 50 minutes at Farm Tomita in Nakafurano, walking through the purple lavender fields and browsing lavender sweets and souvenirs. Leave for Sapporo around 4:10 PM and finish the tour at the group bus stop at the North Exit of Sapporo Station.
