Travel between La Paz and Uyuni by overnight bus
and explore the salt flats for a day
On day 1, check in at the bus office in La Paz around 9 p.m. and board the overnight bus to Uyuni at 9:30 p.m. The bus has reclining seats, heating, travel blankets, an on-board toilet and seat belts. The bus terminal fee (2.50 BOB per person) must be paid in cash before departure.
On day 2, arrive in Uyuni around 7:30 a.m., where staff meet you at the bus office and take you to a nearby café for free time. Then check in at the office, get a briefing from your driver and guide, and start the tour at 10:30 a.m.
Discover Uyuni's history at the Train Cemetery and Colchani
Walk among old locomotives and railway relics at the Train Cemetery and learn about Uyuni's railway history. Then stop in the village of Colchani to see traditional salt processing and browse handicrafts made of salt, alpaca wool and llama wool.
Explore the white salt plain and Incahuasi Island
Cross the salt flats by 4x4 to see the salt eyes, Playa Blanca, the Salt Hotel Museum, the Flags of the World and the Dakar monument. Walk the trails of Incahuasi Island among giant cacti and ancient coral formations for views of the salt flats, and take perspective photos against the endless horizon.
Watch the sunset over the salt flats and return to La Paz by overnight bus
Watch the colors of the salt flats change at dusk with wine and chips, then return to the Uyuni office around 7:30 p.m. for free time. Check in at the bus office around 9 p.m., board the overnight bus to La Paz, and arrive at La Paz Bus Terminal around 6:00–6:30 a.m. on day 3, where the trip ends.
