From La Paz: Uyuni Salt Flats Tour with Round-Trip Overnight Bus & Sunset

Take an overnight bus from La Paz
to the Uyuni Salt Flats

On the first day, meet and check in at the La Paz bus terminal at 8:30 PM and board the bus to Uyuni at 9:00 PM. The bus has heating, a restroom, polar blankets and a first-aid kit.

When you arrive in Uyuni around 6:00 AM the next day, you'll have free time to buy snacks and water. Then meet your guide at the office and start the salt flats tour at 10:30 AM.

Explore the train cemetery and Colchani village

See the abandoned trains at the train cemetery on the outskirts of Uyuni. Then stop in the small village of Colchani to see salt handicrafts and textiles made from llama and alpaca wool, as well as the workshops of salt miners.

Take photos on the endless white salt flats

Walk across the vast salt flats, see the "Ojos de Agua Salada" where salt water bubbles up, and visit the salt hotel, now used as a museum and restaurant. Climb Incahuasi Island to see giant cacti and rock formations.

There's also time to take fun perspective photos with your group on the white salt surface. Lunch is provided during the tour.

Watch the sunset over the salt flats with a glass of wine

Finally, head to an open area of the flats and watch the sunset over the salt desert with a glass of wine. Return to Uyuni between 7:15 and 7:45 PM, make your own way to the bus office by 8:30 PM, and board the bus to La Paz at 9:00 PM. You'll arrive in La Paz between 6:15 and 6:35 AM on the third day.
