This bus tour departs from Fukuoka for a traditional donkobune boat ride in Yanagawa, the 'Venice of Kyushu', and visits rural Kyushu sights on a course that changes with the season. Course A (January to April) visits Dazaifu Tenmangu and strawberry picking or a brewery cafe in Yame, while Course C (October to December) visits Ukiha Inari Shrine, the Palm Tree Swing and the wedded rocks of Sakurai Futamigaura in Itoshima. The Yanagawa river cruise ticket is included, and you'll have 1.5 hours of free time in Yanagawa for lunch and a stroll.
Program
Depart from Hakata or Tenjin
and explore rural Kyushu by seasonal course
Depart at 7:50 AM from HEARTS Bus Station Hakata or at 8:10 AM from Fukuoka Central Post Office (Tenjin). The afternoon depends on the course you book: Course A runs January to April and Course C runs October to December.
Yanagawa donkobune cruise and free time
On both courses, ride a traditional donkobune for 30 minutes through the historic canal town (ticket included). Then spend 1.5 hours having lunch in Yanagawa, famous for eel rice bowls, and strolling the traditional streets (meals not included).
Course A: Dazaifu Tenmangu and strawberry picking
Explore the main hall, ponds and gardens of Dazaifu Tenmangu for 1 hour 15 minutes, and after Yanagawa enjoy 1 hour of strawberry picking or a brewery cafe in Yame. Arrive in Tenjin/Hakata around 4:20–4:40 PM.
Course C: Ukiha Inari Shrine and the Itoshima coast
Spend 50 minutes at Ukiha Inari Shrine before heading to Yanagawa. In the afternoon, enjoy 30 minutes at the Palm Tree Swing and 1 hour 10 minutes at the wedded rocks and angel wings photo spot of Sakurai Futamigaura with sea views and sunset. Arrive in Tenjin/Hakata around 5:30–5:45 PM.
