BESTI saw it when I arrived on the first day of the trip. The tickets were delivered to the entrance 10 minutes before the performance... hahaha. I was surprised. The performance was so fun. It's a must-see performance. I had so much fun that I didn't notice the time passing for about an hour.
Taking place at Thang Long Theater,
water puppet show
Learn about Vietnamese art by watching a puppet show that has great cultural significance. The tradition of water puppetry is that in the past, when the rice fields were flooded, villagers performed and enjoyed puppetry while standing in water up to their waists. Enjoy the magical sounds of a water puppet show performed using traditional Vietnamese instruments such as the Erhu, flute, zither, and Cheo song. Thang Long Water Puppet Theater performances have impressed audiences all over the world, from Asia to Europe, the United States, and Australia, and are so famous that audiences come from over 40 countries.
Why you should see a water puppet show
Hanoi Water Puppet Theater is a Vietnamese performance with a great tradition that began in the 11th century. A unique stage set up on a pond. Puppeteers use sticks and thread to manipulate puppets and perform vivid performances. The story told is so moving that I highly recommend seeing it.
