Leave Tokyo and explore Hakone
and the Mt. Fuji area in one day
Meet at Shinjuku or Tokyo Station and travel by bus for about 2 hours to Hakone. Your guide accompanies you to Hakone Shrine, Lake Ashi, the Hakone Ropeway, Owakudani, Lake Yamanaka and Oshino Hakkai. At each stop you have time for photos, walks and free exploration.
Visit Hakone Shrine and the torii gate on the water
Pass through the iconic red torii and explore the historic Hakone Shrine. In its peaceful atmosphere you can pray for safety, good relationships and good fortune. Then take photos in front of the torii gate standing on Lake Ashi.
Enjoy Lake Ashi and Owakudani by pirate ship and ropeway
Cruise across Lake Ashi on the Hakone Pirate Ship and admire the surrounding mountains and lakeshore. On clear days you may even see Mt. Fuji. The pirate ship fare is extra; it is included only in options marked as including the pirate ship.
From Togendai, ride the Hakone Ropeway (one way) up to Owakudani, looking down over Lake Ashi and the volcanic area. At Owakudani, explore the unique volcanic terrain with rising sulfur steam and try the black eggs, said to extend your life by seven years.
Take in Mt. Fuji views at Lake Yamanaka and Oshino Hakkai
Stroll along the shore of Lake Yamanaka at Swan Beach and enjoy the swans and lake scenery. Next, explore Oshino Hakkai with its crystal-clear spring ponds. On clear days you can see Mt. Fuji reflected in the water and try the local spring-water tofu ice cream. After the tour, return to Tokyo by bus in about 2 hours.
