This is a hands-on class of about 3 hours where you make French macarons yourself at Le Foodist, a cooking studio in Paris's Latin Quarter. Held in small groups of up to 6, the instructor gives attention to every participant. Learn to make macaron shells with the stable Italian meringue method, and master piping, coloring and ganache or curd fillings. After class, enjoy a teatime with tea and coffee, and take home a box of the macarons you made.
Meet at Le Foodist in the Latin Quarter to start the class. Your English-speaking instructor first demonstrates how to make macarons and explains in detail the Italian meringue method, which is a little harder to master but more reliable. Aprons and all cooking equipment are provided.
During about 2 hours of hands-on practice, learn how to pipe the batter into shells, color them, and make ganache or curd fillings. With a small group of up to 6, you can ask questions right away as you follow along.
Once your macarons are done, enjoy a teatime with tea, coffee and fruit juice while the instructor shares stories about the history of macarons and French culture. Before leaving, take home a box of the macarons you made, along with English recipes in paper and electronic form.
