This day tour departs Fukuoka at 11:00 AM, visits Kitakyushu's highlights and ends with the night view from Mt. Sarakura. Stroll through Mojiko Retro with its Meiji- and Taisho-era Western-style buildings, then take a ferry across the Kanmon Strait to Karato Market, famous for its seafood. After visiting Kokura Castle and THE OUTLETS KITAKYUSHU, look down on the lights of Kitakyushu from the Mt. Sarakura observatory, ranked among Japan's "New Three Major Night Views." A guide speaking Chinese, English and Japanese accompanies the tour, and you only pay on site for the admissions you choose.

Take a relaxed stroll through
the harbor streets of Mojiko Retro
Meet at 11:00 AM at the Lawson convenience store next to Hakata Station and depart by bus. The first stop is Mojiko Retro, a port opened in 1889 that flourished as an international trade hub, where you will spend about 2 hours 10 minutes walking streets lined with Meiji- and Taisho-era Western-style buildings. See Mojiko Station (built in 1914, an Important Cultural Property), the Blue Wing Moji drawbridge and the former Moji Customs Building, and try the local specialty, baked curry (at your own expense).
If you like, you can also go up the Mojiko Retro Observation Room for panoramic views of the Kanmon Strait (admission not included).
Take a ferry to Karato Market

Cross the Kanmon Strait on a short ferry ride to Karato Market, known as "the kitchen of Kanmon" (ferry fare ¥400 one way, at your own expense). Famous for fresh seafood, fugu sashimi and seafood rice bowls, you will spend about 2 hours here. On Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, the "Ikiiki Bakangai" market is held, where you can enjoy sushi and local food.
Spend the afternoon at Kokura Castle and the outlets

In the afternoon, spend about 50 minutes at Kokura Castle, built in 1602 by Hosokawa Tadaoki. It is the only castle in Fukuoka Prefecture with a main keep, its interior features digital exhibits on Kokura's 400-year history, and the top floor offers 360-degree views of the city and the Kanmon Strait (admission not included).
Next, enjoy about 2 hours 10 minutes of free time at THE OUTLETS KITAKYUSHU, opened in 2022. With more than 170 international and Japanese brands plus a food court, restaurants and cafes, you can shop and have dinner here.
Admire the night view of Kitakyushu from Mt. Sarakura

Finally, ride the cable car and slope car up Mt. Sarakura (622 m) and stay for about 50 minutes (round trip approx. ¥1,230, at your own expense). The observatory overlooks the city lights of Kitakyushu, Dokai Bay and the Kanmon Strait, and is ranked among Japan's "New Three Major Night Views." It is especially beautiful in winter when the air is clear. You will return to Hakata Station at around 21:00.
