From Fukuoka: Mt. Aso Nakadake Crater & Kusasenri and Takachiho Gorge Day Tour

Im Großen und Ganzen war es okay die Busfahrt war etwas lang auf dem Rückweg. Leider war ein Unfall auf der Autobahn, aber das ist höhere Gewalt Gewalt.

The tour was really satisfying with enough explanation for each sites by our guide Ms. Yang. But the tour to the Aso crater entrance was cancelled due to the accident in Jan 2026. But my tour was in May. Then it had been better if the photo for this tour was not the Aso crater. It is confusing. But the tour itself was very nice!

Takachiho Gorge was beautiful and we were able to see lots of smoje from the Aso volcano crater.The tour was on time and our tour guide did well with all the languages she needed to use.

I think this is a very good option ,if you cannot or don't want to rent a car and have short time on Kyushu. The guide Nicole spoke very good English (and Chinese, possibly other languages , wow!). She was patient and gave good information about local signature products, bus driver was a professional. I enjoyed. I give 4 not 5 starts, as one thing could be improved in my opinion: practical tips could be given more in advance regarding planned amount of free time at each site. I would appreciate knowing earlier that we would have around 1 h of free time at Aso site before arriving there (and not when we have arrived). Then I would eat something bigger BEFORE ARRIVING there to have more time for walking. 1 h 15 min may seem like a lot of time, but then 15 min was used for bus unload and logistics, and when you walk around and take some photos one hour passes very quicky and no time for the "restaurant ceremonies" 😄. Be aware the very crater is currently closed (april 2026).
