Depart from Hakata Station and
see a shrine, a volcano, and a hot spring town
Meet near the Chikushi Exit of Hakata Station and visit Kamishikimi Kumanoimasu Shrine and Ugeto Rock, the Aso volcano and Kusasenri, and Kurokawa Onsen in turn. A Chinese- and English-speaking guide accompanies you, and the tour ends back at the Chikushi Exit of Hakata Station.
Walk through Kamishikimi Kumanoimasu Shrine
and Ugeto Rock

Spend about 60 minutes in the shrine area. At Kamishikimi Kumanoimasu Shrine, known as a setting for the animated film "Into the Forest of Fireflies' Light," stroll for about 45 minutes among moss-covered stone lanterns and quiet grounds, then spend about 15 minutes at the nearby Ugeto Rock, a huge natural rock opening. As this is a sacred place, please keep your voice down and do not touch sacred objects.
Enjoy caldera views at the Aso volcano and Kusasenri

Spend about 90 minutes around the Aso volcano and the Kusasenri grassland. From an observation point, take in panoramic views of the roughly 25 km wide caldera and the smoking Nakadake peak, and photograph the plateau scenery that changes with the seasons. At Kusasenri, you can see horses near the volcanic lake and may also taste the local black eggs.
While the Mt. Aso crater is temporarily closed due to a helicopter accident, sightseeing takes place around the Aso Volcano Plaza (Aso Sanjo Square) instead. The 90 minutes include a lunch break; lunch is not included and can be purchased locally. The ground can be windy and slippery with volcanic ash, so please wear non-slip shoes and bring a windbreaker.
Relax in the forest hot spring town of Kurokawa Onsen

Finally, spend about 90 minutes in Kurokawa Onsen, a mountain hot spring town surrounded by forest. Stroll around the town, including Marusuzu Bridge and the Anayu area, and relax in a riverside open-air bath if you wish. Hot spring admission is paid by yourself.
Swimsuits are not allowed in the hot springs, and you must wash thoroughly before entering the bath. Bathing may be restricted for people with tattoos, so please cover them if necessary.
※ In heavy rain or dense fog, the Aso volcano stop is replaced by the Senbazuru Deer Park, and there is no partial refund for such changes.
※ Access to the crater depends on daily official announcements. If it is closed, you will spend extra time at Kusasenri. If it reopens on the day of the tour, the original plan applies.
※ On weekends and public holidays, the route and times may change due to traffic or closures.
※ Animals such as horses and seasonal scenery vary by season and weather and are not guaranteed.
