From Fukuoka: Dazaifu, Yufuin, Beppu Ropeway & Kamado Jigoku Day Tour

Depart from Fukuoka
and visit Dazaifu Tenmangu

Board a coach at Lawson Oriental Hotel Fukuoka near Hakata Station and arrive in Dazaifu after about 30 minutes. Pass through the torii gate and walk the stone path lined with red lanterns and traditional shops to Dazaifu Tenmangu, the shrine of Sugawara no Michizane, the god of learning, where you can pray for success or good luck. Try umegae mochi, crispy outside and soft inside, during your stay of about 1 hour 20 minutes.

Stroll freely through Yufuin hot spring town

After a drive of about 1 hour 40 minutes, arrive in Yufuin, surrounded by mountains and a lake, and enjoy about 2 hours of free time. Walk Yunotsubo Street, lined with craft, dessert and zakka shops, and enjoy treats like pudding, cheesecake and crêpes. At Lake Kinrin, you may see mist rising over the water.

Ride the Beppu Ropeway for views over Beppu Bay

About 30 minutes from Yufuin, spend around 1 hour at the Beppu Ropeway. At the summit, Beppu Bay, the city and green mountains spread out below, and there is an observation deck and a small shrine. The ropeway fare is not included, so please bring cash.

Discover Beppu’s hot springs at Kamado Jigoku

A 20-minute drive brings you to Kamado Jigoku, where you’ll spend about 30 minutes. See the many faces of the Beppu Hells in one place, from blue and red hot springs to boiling water and rising steam, and try snacks cooked with hot spring steam. Afterwards, a drive of about 2 hours 10 minutes takes you back to the original meeting point.
