Leave Fukuoka early and
explore Yufuin at a relaxed pace
Depart by vehicle early in the morning from the meeting point near Hakata Station and head to Yufuin, a hot spring town in the heart of Kyushu. Arriving ahead of the daytime crowds lets you start the trip in a calm atmosphere.
Surrounded by Mt. Yufu, lakes and forests, Yufuin has free time for you to wander streets filled with the scent of hot springs. Browse local snacks and souvenirs along Yunotsubo Street, and visit Lake Kinrin, where morning mist often rises from the water.
Ride the Yufuin no Mori sightseeing train

Leaving Yufuin, board the famous Yufuin no Mori sightseeing train, known as a "moving museum in the forest." Through large panoramic windows and from its warm wooden interior, enjoy views of Mt. Yufu, green fields, streams and villages.
See the cobalt-blue Sea Hell in Beppu

Visit Umi Jigoku (Sea Hell), known as the largest of Beppu's famous "hells." In the sunlight, its water shines a vivid cobalt blue like a tropical sea.
Walk through the 1,000-year-old Dazaifu Tenmangu

Finally, visit Dazaifu Tenmangu, a historic shrine with over 1,000 years of history. Its red shrine buildings stand among tall old trees, and you can pass through the large torii gate and walk the old approach. After Dazaifu, return to Fukuoka.
※ From December 28 to January 5, Nyoirinji Temple replaces Dazaifu Tenmangu due to New Year events and traffic congestion.
※ On weekends and Japanese public holidays, the order of stops and time at each stop may change due to traffic or early closures.
※ If the train is suspended or canceled, only the train fare is refunded and the rest of the tour runs as scheduled.
