This 9-hour day tour departs by bus from Hakata Station in Fukuoka and visits Nyoirinji Frog Temple, Mt. Yufu, the hot spring town of Yufuin and the Hells of Beppu in one day. Explore Nyoirinji with over 5,000 frog statues, then stroll freely for almost 2 hours through the fairytale-like streets of Yufuin. In Beppu, admission to the turquoise Umi Jigoku (Sea Hell) and the steaming Kamado Jigoku is included. It is a group tour with an English and Chinese-speaking guide.
Meet at 8:30 am at Lawson Oriental Hotel Fukuoka in front of the Chikushi Exit of Hakata Station and depart by bus. This group tour has up to 43 participants and is accompanied by an English and Chinese-speaking guide. On days with fewer participants, the driver may act as guide and give brief commentary (no commentary while driving).
You visit Nyoirinji, Mt. Yufu, Yufuin and the Hells of Beppu in that order, then return to the same meeting point in the evening. All transfers are by bus.
Spend about 40 minutes at Nyoirinji, where frogs are revered as divine messengers. See more than 5,000 frog statues made of wood, ceramic and stone, and write a wish on a frog-shaped ema (wishing plaque).
From June 1 to September 30, a wind chime festival is held with 1,000 hand-painted wind chimes. Admission to Nyoirinji is not included.
Spend about 40 minutes enjoying the scenery and taking photos at Mt. Yufu. Then enjoy about 110 minutes of free time in Yufuin. Walk along Yunotsubo Street lined with craft shops and cafés, stroll around Lake Kinrin and try snacks such as Kinrinko milk pudding.
In winter, the Mt. Yufu trail is closed, so you get 30 more minutes of free time in Yufuin instead.
Spend about 40 minutes at the hells of the hot spring city of Beppu. Admission is included to Umi Jigoku, known for its 98°C turquoise water, and Kamado Jigoku, where steam rises from several vents. You can also try jigoku-mushi steamed with geothermal heat (at your own cost).
※ On weekends and Japanese public holidays, the order of stops and time spent at each may change due to traffic or early closures.
※ August 8–16, 2026 is Japan's peak holiday season with frequent traffic jams. Please avoid booking dinner, flights or Shinkansen on the tour day.
