Depart from Hakata Station in Fukuoka and spend a full day exploring the forests and coastline of the Itoshima Peninsula with a guide. Visit the 24-meter Shiraito Falls and the historic Buddhist temple Raizan Sennyoji Taihioin, then admire Meoto Iwa, the wedded rocks standing side by side in the sea at Sakurai Futamigaura. Take photos at popular Itoshima spots such as the palm tree swing and the angel wings and bird's nest installations, and walk the Totoro Forest trail with its Ghibli-like atmosphere. Finally, return to Fukuoka city to end the trip at Fukuoka Tower and the seaside park.

Depart from Hakata Station
for Shiraito Falls and Raizan Sennyoji
At 9:00 a.m., board the bus in front of Hakata Station and ride about an hour to the 24-meter Shiraito Falls. Clear water flows down like white silk, surrounded by old maple trees and hydrangeas. Explore freely for about 30 minutes, and you can also try the local specialty nagashi somen noodles (at your own expense).
Next, spend about 40 minutes at Raizan Sennyoji Taihioin. With quiet wooden corridors, lush greenery and historic architecture, this Buddhist temple is a peaceful place to explore. Temple admission is not included and is paid on site.
Enjoy Futamigaura Bay
and Itoshima's photo spots

Head to the coast for photo time at Futamigaura Bay. Snap pictures at Itoshima's popular photo spots, such as the palm tree swing facing the sea and the angel wings and bird's nest installations.
Then enjoy about 110 minutes of free time at Sakurai Futamigaura. Meoto Iwa, two rocks standing side by side in the blue sea, symbolize love and harmony and are one of Itoshima's signature views. Meals during free time are at your own expense.
Take a quiet walk
along the Totoro Forest trail

Move to the Keya area and walk the Totoro Forest trail for about 40 minutes. Quiet paths wind through the dense, shady forest with sunlight filtering through the leaves, creating an atmosphere straight out of a Studio Ghibli film.
End the trip at Fukuoka Tower
and the seaside park

Return to Fukuoka city and enjoy about an hour of free time at Fukuoka Tower, the city's landmark. Take in the skyline and coastline (admission not included) and stroll through Fukuoka's seaside park with its lawns and ocean-view promenade. During cherry blossom season, enjoy the blossoms at Fukuoka Castle Ruins and Maizuru Park. The tour ends at the starting point in front of Hakata Station.
