Beijing Forbidden City & Mutianyu Great Wall Guided Tour with Lunch

Start from your hotel and
explore Tiananmen Square

Your guide and driver will pick you up directly from your hotel in central Beijing. Private tours also offer options departing from Beijing Capital International Airport or Beijing Daxing International Airport, making them suitable for layover travelers. At Tiananmen Square, your first stop, you'll view the surrounding buildings from outside, including the Mausoleum of Mao Zedong, the Monument to the People's Heroes, and the Great Hall of the People, while your guide explains their history.

In peak season, security checks at Tiananmen Square can take 1–2 hours. If the line is too long, you'll drive around the square instead to focus on the Forbidden City and the Great Wall.

Enter the Forbidden City through the Meridian Gate

Enter the Forbidden City through the Meridian Gate. Completed in 1420, it was home to 24 emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties and their families, and served as the center of Chinese politics and ceremony for more than 500 years. Spend about 1.5 hours exploring its halls, courtyards, and gardens as your guide shares insights into Chinese history, culture, and architecture.

Have lunch and head to the Mutianyu Great Wall

After the Forbidden City, travel about 1.5 hours to the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall. Along the way, your guide shares the history and stories of the Great Wall, and you'll stop for lunch to recharge for the afternoon.

Walk the wall at your own pace

At the Great Wall, your guide explains how soldiers once kept watch from the watchtowers and how signal fires spread across the ridges. Then enjoy about 1.5 hours of free time to walk the wall at your own pace. To descend, take the cable car or chairlift, or ride the toboggan for a quick trip down (at your own expense). After the tour, you'll be driven back to your hotel in Beijing.
