Walk through the Forbidden City, palace of the Ming and Qing emperors

In the morning, explore the Forbidden City, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that was home to 24 emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties. Pass through grand halls, golden roofs and vast courtyards, walking from the Meridian Gate into the quiet inner court, and discover the traditions and culture of the Chinese imperial court through the symbols and history found throughout.

Admire the Great Wall views
at the forest-surrounded Mutianyu section

In the afternoon, leave the city behind and head to Mutianyu, one of the best-preserved sections of the Great Wall. Surrounded by hills and forests, it offers panoramic views in a quieter setting than Badaling. Walk along restored watchtowers and well-maintained paths to enjoy hiking and nature, using the free shuttle bus within the scenic area. The cable car and toboggan are optional and available at an extra cost.
