An English-speaking driver or English-speaking guide picks you up from your Beijing hotel. Driver options can also depart from a train station or airport. Pickup times are flexible, but on public holidays and weekends an early start is recommended, as traffic is heavy and the wall gets crowded. Mutianyu is about 70 km from the city, roughly a 1.5-hour drive.

Walk the Mutianyu Great Wall at your own pace

The Mutianyu Great Wall is located in Mutianyu Village, Bohai Town, Huairou District, Beijing. A 5.4 km stretch with 20 watchtowers is open to the public, offering views of mountains, watchtowers and beacon towers as you walk. With the included VIP entrance ticket, you skip the line and spend about 3 hours exploring.

Ride the cable car or toboggan for an easier visit

The Mutianyu Scenic Area has facilities such as cable cars and a slide to help you save energy going up and down, as well as restaurants and shops. Cable car or chairlift up and toboggan down tickets are not included. After your visit, the drive back takes about 1.5 hours.
