From Fukuoka: Aso Kusasenri & Minamiaso Railway and Kurokawa Onsen Day Tour (Korean-Speaking Guide)

Aso and Kurokawa Onsen in one day

Meet at 9:00 AM at the Lawson convenience store (Oriental Hotel Fukuoka) near the Chikushi Exit of Hakata Station and depart in an air-conditioned bus. This is a group tour of up to 45 people with a guide who speaks Korean, Chinese, English and Japanese, returning to Hakata Station at around 6:50 PM.

Ride the Minamiaso Railway along the foothills of Mt. Aso

Ride the Minamiaso Railway from Tateno Station to Minamiaso-Shirakawa-Suigen Station. As the train runs along the foothills of Mt. Aso, enjoy views of mountains, forests, open fields, clear valleys and the five peaks of Aso in the distance.

The train fare is not included and is paid on site (regular train 490 yen per person, Torokko sightseeing train 2,000 yen per person). Train types and schedules may vary depending on railway operations, and if you prefer not to ride the train, you can go directly to the next stop on the tour bus.

Walk the Kusasenri grassland where wild horses roam

Kusasenri is a vast grassland on the northern slope of an active volcano in Aso-Kuju National Park. In the center are two seasonal ponds reflecting the volcanic peaks, and you can see horses grazing. Spend 90 minutes of free time walking and taking photos.

If you wish, visit the Aso Volcano Museum (adults 1,300 yen, elementary students 650 yen, seniors 1,100 yen, preschoolers 350 yen, paid on site) to see volcanic rock samples, a VR experience and live camera footage of the Nakadake crater.

End the day in the hot spring town of Kurokawa Onsen

Spend 1.5 hours of free time in Kurokawa Onsen, where about 30 traditional ryokan line the Tanohara River. Explore open-air baths between forests and valleys, car-free streets, specialty shops and cafes. Day-trip bathing costs about 500–800 yen per person at public baths and from 3,000 yen for family baths, paid on site.
