Beijing Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square & Mutianyu Great Wall Private Tour - Hotel Pickup

Your day begins with a private vehicle pickup from your hotel in central Beijing. Because every site has closing times and traffic between the Great Wall and the city can be heavy, a 7:30 AM start is recommended. Arriving at Tiananmen Square, the symbol of China, you walk across the entire square to the Forbidden City.

Explore the Forbidden City along the Imperial Way

Built by the Ming Emperor Yongle, the Forbidden City was home to 24 emperors from 1420 to 1924. Enter through the Meridian Gate, the official entrance, and follow the central axis known as the Imperial Way, where the most important buildings stand, with commentary from your guide.

In the southern political area, see the Gate of Supreme Harmony, the Hall of Supreme Harmony, the Hall of Central Harmony, and the Hall of Preserving Harmony. Continue north into the emperor’s private quarters to see the Palace of Heavenly Purity, the Hall of Union, and the Palace of Earthly Tranquility, and finish in the Imperial Garden with its rockeries, pavilions, and Taoist temple.

End the day hiking
the Mutianyu Great Wall

After leaving the Forbidden City, head to a local restaurant near the Great Wall for lunch. Then hike along the walls of the Mutianyu section. The shuttle bus and a round-trip chairlift or a slide down are included, and if you prefer another option such as the cable car, your guide will help you buy tickets.

After the hike, you are taken back to your hotel or dropped off at a restaurant of your choice for dinner.
